How to Not Fall for Trends and Find Yourself
A Little Intro
I am the creator of high on you and I am just like you. I am on a journey of finding myself, becoming better and basically becoming the woman of my dreams. I started high on you because I feel there is so much power and magic in women and majority of women live their lives not even recognizing that. I am a very spiritual woman and somehow I've had experiences in my life that has made me realize so many things, but most importantly my self-worth. I am not going to run ads for high on you or ask women to please follow because I know the women who will resonate with me will become a part of this on their own. High on you is basically about women being high on themselves, living a life with zero self-doubts, insecurity or any negative low vibration energy. My vision is to create a community of women that is so strong that it feels like a second home, a home full of love and magic where we all grow together.
I don't show who I am anywhere and there's a reason behind it. I don't want any woman to think that she needs to look a certain way or dress a certain way to come to that higher level. Obviously if I come in front of camera I am going to make sure that my hair looks good, my face looks good and everything is perfect. But when you will see it you might think she is already in her era or she's achieved it all. I want us all to do it together. I am still becoming her and I want to share this with you all. To share my wisdom on what I have learned and to learn your wisdom as well. A huge hub of women who are determined to live their dream life is what I imagine high on you to be. So, if you want to be a high on you bestie, sister or guide and transform together, you can connect through social media platforms. The links are given below.
So, now that you know me, let me enlighten you with my acquired knowledge on this topic.
Introduction
The pressure to keep up is real. Social media today has become about trends and less about individuality. People are forced to pretend to do things everyone else is doing, because if you choose to do what you want to do, you'll either be judged for it or might not get much support. Today, people just do things to go viral, which has made social media more fake. Like before posting something you have to make sure you have dressed well, your hair are perfect, your outfit is trending etc. There is this silent pressure, underlying anxiety nobody talks about that makes you think abnormally so much on what to wear, how to think and do what everybody else is doing. In all of this people are forgetting their own uniqueness.
You know the reason I don't show my face yet is that I don't want to be judged. If I choose to show my face I'll have to make sure I look polished and good. And honestly, I don't have time for that, I'm building something that is unique, full of emotions and I believe it can work just well without revealing my face. Because my main purpose is not to make you think you have to look like me, my main purpose is to make you feel like me, to make you realize that you are not ordinary, you are full of magic and unimaginable potential.
And I will show my face someday, when we all will be ready, when every woman of my club will be thriving.
Why Trends Feel Tempting
Most of the times we only want to do a trend not because we are interested but because we fear. We fear missing out, we fear that if we don't do it we won't belong. But doing something that suppresses your true nature is just cruel. Don't do that to yourself. All of us are born unique and with our own talents. Don't let that go to a waste just because of a trend that's temporary. This can disconnect you from your authentic self. And doing something just because everyone else is doing will make you feel belonged for a while, after that you'll feel lost and disconnected. It's better you follow your passion, the people who will then connect will love you for you and your passion. Inspiring people with what's truly yours is far more better than just delivering something that's been done like a thousand times by everybody around.
Look at High on You, this club is authentic, I am authentic, I don't follow any trends if you check Instagram, the posts, the ideas are all truly mine, and when someone likes it, follows it, even if it is just one like. It feels like a victory, because it is organic and true.
Signs You're Losing Yourself in Trends
Growth is one thing and change is another. One person may change because they are growing, it will slow but steady and long term. Now another person may change to fit in, this change is short lived, exhausting and fake. So, if you're changing your style, opinions and routines very frequently without sticking to something, chances are you're only doing it for the outer facade. Your main goal should be finding yourself, Look into your heart, what you truly desire and who you truly want to be. Because the outer world keeps changing, your inner world should be authentic for you, where you can find comfort and it can stay with you, help you grow better. Trends will only leave you exhausted.
How to Reconnect with Your True Self
The best way to reconnect with yourself is to spend time with yourself instead of scrolling and checking other people's posts online. Make your own foundation so strong that you don't just get influenced by whatever you see online, know that if someone is posting something or themselves online, they will only show you or make it look like it's the best or perfect. You never know what is true. People only show the good bits of their life online, obviously nobody is going to post about their bitter moments. And sit and look at it and wonder the are living such an amazing life. No babe, you don't know how someone is truly living. That is why it is important you focus on yourself.
You can start by journaling, try the prompt : What makes me feel the most me?
You can also create a mood board of things that you like to understand yourself better. Start spending time with yourself offline more, figure out what you would love to do in your free time.
Build a Personal Identity You Love
Don't limit yourself because of trends, yo don't have to wear a particular type of outfit or color just because everyone else is wearing. Wear what you love on your personality. Curate your own values, style and beliefs. Romanticize your individuality, you are unique, embrace that every single day. Don't blend in, stand out confidently. Take inspiration from people but don't imitate them. When you take inspiration, you will add little bit of yourself in it too. But imitating is like just taking up someone else's personality.
How to Handle Not Fitting In
Instead of looking at it like a bad thing, like Oh I don't fit in, start looking at it like a positive thing. Why you want to fit in? With your unique personality, you should always try to stand out, be proud of who you are. Learn to be okay with being the odd one, the unique one. Be the main character, because they don't fit in and that's why they stand out and be remembered. Also, let go of external validation. Yo don't need validation from people who hide themselves and join trends to fit in. Maybe they can come for your validation because you are different, you are unique. Who knows the next trend might come from you and your uniqueness?
Affirmations for Self-Trust
Practice affirmations daily. Words hold a lot of power, choose positive and encouraging words for yourself. You can practice saying "I am enough without following the crowd" or "I trust my own rhythm and vision".
Lastly, I would only say stay rooted in you. Authenticity is timeless , trends are short lived. When you stop chasing trends, you start attracting alignment.
